New approaches plant seeds of business opportunity

"If you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got." Not sure who first said that, as a Google search alternately attributes it to Albert Einstein, Henry Ford, Anthony Robbins, Mark Twain, and goodness knows who else. Well, whoever actually said it was really on to something.

If you're looking for new opportunities--whether it's more land to farm, taking on more custom work, starting a side business, whatever it may be--you're not going to be able to find those opportunities if you don't actively seek them. Going through the day-to-day and simply waiting for opportunity to find you is a sure path to nowhere new. Going out and knocking on opportunity's door requires some out-of-the-box thinking.

In this week's Finance First blog at Farm Futures, Darren Frye shares some ideas other farmers have come up with to acquire new opportunities, and some guidance that might help you take the first steps to your next opportunity.
